Buy a printer that has minimal impact on the indoor climate

A printer must not only produce good printouts and work well, but also have as little impact on the indoor climate and outdoor environment as possible. A printer that is certified in accordance with the TCO Development criteria document TCO’99 Printers fulfils a number of criteria to guarantee just that. The TCO label also covers requirements for ergonomics, radiation, energy and ecology.

A TCO label on the printer guarantees:

Good ergonomics
- Well positioned and clearly marked buttons and controls make the printer simple to use.
- High synergetic display requirements.
- Low noise levels.
- Minimal emission of particles, such as dust and toner powder.

Low radiation level
- Substantial reduction of magnetic and electrical fields.

Low energy consumption
- Low energy consumption to have less of an impact on the environment.
- Energy economy function that produces a better indoor climate since the printer gives off less heat, which maintains the humidity level.

Minimal impact on the environment
- Little ozone emission.
- Reduced emission of brominated and chlorinated flame retardants, mercury and cadmium into the environment.
- Chlorinated solvents and CFCs are not permitted anywhere in the manufacturing process or final assembly.
- The printer must be prepared for recycling and certified in accordance with ISO 14001.

The TCO’99 will be phased out
From January 1st 2009 it will no longer be possible to certify printers according to the certificate TCO’99 Printers. Products certified according to TCO’99 will have a maximum life time to December 31st 2011.
