TCO certification for projectors
Projectors are increasingly being used in the workplace as well as the home. Choosing the right projector is not easy. There is a great deal of confusion over the various performance measurements used to describe the picture quality of projectors.
TCO Certified Projectors
Projectors with maximum image quality and minimum environmental impact
The idea behind the TCO certification for projectors is to make it easier to choose a projector by sorting out the models that meet relevant requirements concerning picture quality, energy consumption and environmental requirements.
TCO Certified evaluates image quality based on a variety of light conditions
Regardless of what you intend to use the projector for, it is important to base your choice on the light conditions in the room where the projector is to be used for the best possible image. TCO Certified is the only label which allows for light conditions when testing the projector’s image quality. Projectors seeking certification are tested based on two different lighting conditions: Office and Video. For Office conditions there must be enough light in the room for the audience to write down their notes. Videos are shown in dark environments, but there must be enough light for people to take their bearings.
TCO Image Size – the maximum projected size for excellence of image quality
TCO Certified for projectors includes the measurement TCO Image Size. TCO Image Size specifies the maximum projected size for excellence image quality. TCO Image Size is given in square metres and the diagonal dimension in inches. All you need to know when choosing a projector with adequate image quality for your needs is the size of the projection screen to be used and choose a projector which has been TCO Certified to manage at least this image size.
TCO Certified is the only label which facilitates the choice of projector in this way.
Several image quality requirements
In order to ensure that the TCO Certified projectors provide the best possible image quality, there are requirements with regard to such aspects as luminance, contrast, resolution, color quality and grey scale.
Complies with stringent environmental and social responsibility requirements
Projectors bearing the TCO Certified label comply with stringent environmental requirements such as low energy consumption and minimal levels of environmentally hazardous substances. The certification also includes an eco mode requirement so the projector can be set to a lower luminance, thus reducing noise, energy consumption and increasing the life of the lamp. The certification also requires manufacturers to verify that they are working proactively on environmental improvements to the production process and social responsibility issues.
